What is Platform Racing 3?

Platform Racing 3™ mixes the fun gameplay of the classic platformer, with the head to head competiveness of the most popular racing games!

What is PR3 Block Creator?

PR3 Block creator is made by OmicroN09, an avid programmer and web developer by trade who's looking to make the hard and complicated things in life easier through automation. The block editor in platform racing 3 is lacking to say the least. To create detailed blocks you either have to do it pixel by pixel or be a very good artist with a brush.

Some people wont agree with this program and will think it's taking away from the creative process and art of drawing by hand; I beg to differ. I say this program gives everyone the opportunity to create the blocks they always wanted to, either by using existing images or by first creating there art in a better editing program such as Photoshop, Gimp, Paint Shop Pro, etc...

Better blocks mean better (looking) levels for all. I was originally thinking of charging people for this program but I'm not that greedy and helping out the community by giving it away for free is more rewarding. If you do feel like contributing to the project, you may make donations using the Donate button in the top right corner. Donations will go toward making the program better by encouraging me to work on it more.

Some features that could be added to the program in the future based on demand and time could include but not limited too:
- The ability to resize images directly in the program rather then having to do it in a third party program.
- The ability to apply filters to an image you select, I.E. Invert, flip horizontally/vertically, make gray scale, applying alpha channels (red, blue, green)
- Fully automating the bot taking the manual steps out of the process of setting coordinate by hand
- And so on...

Where can I download PR3 Block Creator?

Latest Version: 3.0 - Download PR3 Block Creator v3.0 w/ Alpha Drawing & Flip/Rotate Image Support

New Features:
- Added support for drawing blocks with images containing alpha transparency!! (This can be seen in my trap level "Stone Traps" in which if you look at the trap arrow blocks you'll see they're semi transparent and you can see the background through them.)
- Added a flip/rotate image feature. While this doesn't sound like much it gives you the oppertunity to create say a left trap arrow block and use the feature in the program to rotate the image so its facing up and now you have an up arrow block, or right and have a right arrow block. So rather then creating 4 seperate arrow images for each direction you can create 1 and rotate it. Another example is say you creating something facing left and now you want/need it to face right, load up the image and flip it.

Bugs Fixes:
- When pausing the program using the 'P' shortcut key, you then needed to press 'P' again to resume; this prevented you from pausing the program to say chat or look up something without having to worry about pressing the 'P' key trying to type a word. Now the 'P' shortcut key still works to pause but to resume there is a button on the program you press to resume, this should elimate that problem

Version: 2.0 - Download PR3 Block Creator v2.0 w/ Background Support

New Features:
- Added background drawing support!!!
- Interface changes, add tabs for block creator, and background creator, along with link at bottom of program that will open up this site so you don't have to remember it or bookmark it.
- Added a pause feature. While the program is drawing press the 'p' key to pause and press it again to unpause.
- Settings are now saved when you exit the program. The click delay, other click delay, and always on top options will be remembered the next time you open the program so you no longer need to modify them every time you open the program to your desired settings.

Bugs Fixes:
- None

Special Note: Most people didn't read this section last update to see that the click delays were set high by default and to set them back low to draw faster. So this release I set the delay options back down low. 100 for the click delay, and 1 for the other click delay. I've set the click delay as low as 10 and its drawn fine so you can go lower then the defaults, the only reason they are there to begin with is earlier versions of the program had color drawing issues and I thought it was related to the speed of it entering the color codes. That might of been fixed in the last version though as I changed the way it enters those codes and so the delays may no longer be needed; you can try 1 for both settings and see how it works for you.

Version: 1.2 - Download PR3 Block Creator v1.2

New Features:
- Restructured the interface
- Added keep program on top checkbox option
- Added another click delay option to handle the delay between other clicks the program does.
- Added an option for the user to specify a transparent color that the program will now draw when it comes across.

Bugs Fixes:
- Attempted to fix the issue while drawing with the correct pixel colors not being entered/selected. Think this time I may of finally got a working solution, to aid with the fix I also made the program position the cursor over the color picker in the flash app the whole time which seems to have helped a lot. You should keep your mouse still after clicking the draw button.
- There was a bug in the drawing process for drawing pixels of the same color that it was skipping some pixels (should make the program draw faster on pictures with a lot of the same color pixels)

Special Note: By default I set the delay options high by default for users to test on first to handle slow computers... but if it runs good at the default 500 click delay and 300 other click delay I suggest setting them lower which will speed up the drawing process considerably. I use 100/100 myself.

Version: 1.1 - Download PR3 Block Creator v1.1

Bugs Fixes:
- Recoded the way the program enters in the color code to draw with, which should fix a lot of peoples problem with the program drawing there image with the wrong colors. (if problems still persist there's another change I can add that might fix problems people are having)

Known Bugs:
- Every now and then the program might draw a pixel or two wrong, if you rerun the program it should draw it correctly. Think this has to do with the pause delay I have between the various clicks the program performs, and is also part of the other solution I mentioned above that I can add by making a setting option for the delay between those clicks.

Version: 1.0 - Download PR3 Block Creator v1.0

- Initial Release

Known Bugs:
- Doesn't appear to work right in Google's Chrome browser, the colors come out messed up, at least for me. Let me know if you have different results.

PR3 Block Creator wont open?

PR3 Block Creator requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 to be installed from Microsoft, if you attempt to run the program and it errors out and doesn't open you most likely don't have it installed. Please install it by clicking the link above only if the program doesn't open, if you keep your Windows computer up to date through Windows Update you most likely already have it installed.

English step by step instructions

This is probably the most important information you'll want to follow.

Step 1.

Load your image.

Step 2.

Open the block editor inside Platform Racing 3 with its default settings and click the + symbol multiple times to zoom in as much as you can on the block but don't move the blocks location any using the arrows you see in the screenshot below or your keyboard.

Step 3.

Have your browser with the Platform Racing 3 editor open and the PR3 Block Creator open on the same screen. Click the SET button for color selector inside the PR3 Block Creator program.

Then click the top left corner of the small box with the downward arrow on the color selector in the editor. The middle of the X in the screenshot below is where you should click in the editor.

If done properly you should now see 2 sets of numbers for color selector next to the SET button in the PR3 Block Creator program, these are the coordinates based on your screen to where the color editor is.

Step 4.

Like above, we will now set the coordinates of the drawing area in the editor. Click the SET button for drawing area inside the PR3 Block Creator program.

Then click the top left corner of the block drawing area in the editor. The middle of the X in the screenshot below is where you should click in the editor.

If done properly a black dot should appear in the first pixel space like so

And you should now see 2 sets of numbers for drawing area next to the SET button in the PR3 Block Creator program, these are the coordinates based on your screen to where the block editor drawing area starts. Erase the black dot in the editor with the erasor tool and select the brush tool again (If you dont reselect the brush tool before starting the program then the program is going to try and draw your image using the erasor which just wont work...)

Step 5.

Select the location you want to draw your image in the block drawing area of the editor. If the image you want to draw is only 20x25 pixels then you can draw it in the middle of the block or in the corners or whatever you like. The delay option you can leave as default unless the colors of your image arn't coming out correctly then keep increasing the number by 100.

Step 6.

Preview how your image is going to be drawn in the block space using your settings by clicking the Preview Fast or Preview Slow buttons. Once satisfied click the draw button and watch your image be drawn.

Important Tips: When you click the draw button dont move your mouse at all as it can affect the outcome of your image. Do not let anything overlay ontop of the block editor in your browser or will also affect the outcome of your image. If something does happen and you need to start over you can stop the drawing process by pressing the ESC key on your keyboard and then clicking the draw button again.
